Fred Santino was an Navy Aviation Electrician's Mate attached to the Antarctic Aviation Squadron VX-6 during the period 1965 to 1966. He is a Life member of the Old Antarctic Explorers Association, presently living in New England.
Recently published, Fred's book focuses on Antarctic aviation activity from the earliest flights in the 1920’s, up to the present day. Even today, Antarctica remains a risky, dangerous place to fly, despite the technology advancements. The unpredictable and severe weather caused many accidents, including some that were fatal. The author provides glimpses of management leaders, aviation mishaps, accomplishments, and his own personal experiences.
